From CSV to a filtered Excel file
Build a Power Automate flow that keeps active orders and saves the result as an Excel workbook.
You need access to the AltDat Tables custom connector, an AltDat API key, and the Microsoft license required for custom connectors. Public connector availability is pending; private testers can use their imported AltDat Tables connector.
Download the five-row orders.csv sample and put it in OneDrive or SharePoint.
Read the file
Add a manual trigger, then your storage connector's Get file content action. Select orders.csv.
Prepare a table
Add AltDat's Prepare a table. Set File Content to the previous action's File Content, and Source Format to
csv. Leave advanced options at their defaults.Filter rows
Set AltDat Table Content to Prepare's Body. Choose Column
status, Comparisoneq, and ValueActive. Column names match the file's headers.Export a table
Set AltDat Table Content to Filter rows' Body and Target Format to
xlsx. Text that starts with=is saved as text. To save Excel formulas instead, set the advanced Excel Formulas (XLSX only) option. Safe formulas only keeps web, file and link formulas as text. All formulas (I trust this data) writes every formula, so use it only when you trust every value in the table.Save and verify
Add your storage connector's Create file. Use
active-orders.xlsxas the filename and Export's Body as File Content. Run the flow and open the workbook.
Expected result
Four data rows remain: orders 1001, 1003, 1004, and 1005. Their amounts sum to 450. The canceled order is absent. Check your dashboard for the workflow's credit usage; costs use the live pricing matrix.
Try another step
Insert Sort rows or Select columns between Filter and Export. Always pass the previous AltDat action's Body forward. Describe, Correlations, Distribution, and SQL return JSON results instead of another AltDat Table, so they are terminal branches.
For SQL results, add Parse JSON when you need named fields in later actions. SQL is available on AltDat Starter and higher, uses data as the table name, and accepts one read-only query. Give repeated columns distinct AS aliases, including in joins; duplicate output names return a query error.
File size and retries
Start with this small sample before testing larger files. Power Automate limits the complete message, including its encoded file content. Your plan's direct API upload allowance does not guarantee that the same file fits in a connector message; two-file actions also combine both inputs.
For a 429 response, respect Retry-After. For 402, check your credits. A 400 response needs an input change. SQL that exceeds its execution or result limit should be narrowed before retrying.
